Standing on the cliffs of Sagres was a breathtaking feeling. Watching the massive waves meet the coast, it was easy to see how people thought this was the end of the world. The most westerly tip of continental Europe is a staggering and rugged display of beauty, jutting out into the Atlantic as a surprisingly flat and tall slab. It was in this area that Prince Henry the Navigator had his famous Nautical school with explorers like Ferdinand Magellan, Vasco da Gama, and others studying their craft there while dreaming of exploring West of Sagres. Even a young Christpher Columbus tried his luck at the school, only to be rejected.
