The morning breaks and the city gives way to yet another day, slowly and calmly. Balinese women place handmade offerings dutifully and gracefully in front of their shops, intersections, construction sites, even Circle K’s; it’s their offering to the gods to please and appease. That’s the Balinese vibe. Tourists come to discover tradition and religion on the Island of the Gods but are further enticed by the treasure trove of restaurants, resorts and artisanal shopping in cities like Seminyak. Spending time here feels cool and effortless and that’s why we’ve been back twice in six months. I love Seminyak. Lounge beats lull you to a place between blissful dreaming and energetic awareness at places like Cocoon or Ku De Ta. Sun bed relaxing by the beach is the best way to spend the day when shopping and eating have exhausted themselves. Fast forward to night, after a long day of tanning and sipping island themed cocktails by the pool, and head over to one of the many sunset venues on the island featuring gourmet food, amazing drinks and DJs. Frontrow to the best music in town, I find KU DE TA encompasses just what makes Seminyak so enticing: great music with an easy going vibe, style and not to mention, amazing food.
The swanky sister of Kuta and a quick drive from the airport, Seminyak is teeming with European families and couples alike looking for sun and a good time. This is it- If you want world-class food, many boutiques, and delectable beach bars and Euro-chic lounges, Seminyak is the spot. Because of its great location, doing day trips down south is perfectly doable. We rented a motorbike (40, 000 IDR for one day or $3USD) and had the freedom to explore the beautiful beach and cliff lined Bukit Peninsula while returning to the comforts of food and entertainment by night.
