My life hasn’t been the same since I left Texas 14 years ago.
My name is Monica and I have an insatiable appetite for travel, world cuisine, architecture, and visually stunning places.
Over the past 14 years, I’ve called eight countries home, visiting a total of 35 countries and counting. The truth is, Gorgeous Globe was born out of my insatiable curiosity for travel and experiencing new cultures; what started as a visual diary of sorts became a community and curation of the interesting people and places in the world. My travel journey is documented on GG through personal stories and street photography, showcasing the people and places that strike me deeply.
I currently live in Zurich, Switzerland with my Belgian husband, our two young daughters and our Indonesian cat, Tiga.

Intrigued by flavor, photography, and architecture
I partner with hotels and restaurants to showcase their design, cuisine, and style through blog articles and hi-quality interior and food photography. My passion is to draw in curious travelers with an eye for style and gourmet taste. So far, I’ve worked with companies throughout Asia and Europe in countries such as Malaysia, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Indonesia, and Thailand.
I grew up in the restaurant world, with food woven into every corner of my adolescence and early adulthood. My journey into food writing began in Paris, and ever since, I’ve explored the world the only way I know how: taste buds first—with a soft spot for sweets and an ever-growing love affair with coffee. (Seriously, don’t even get me started.)
My travel writing, photos, and video have been featured by Elle Belgium, Matador Network, Discoverer, Secret Food Tours, ExpatGo Belgium, ExpatGo Malaysia, The Bulletin, Flanders Today, Ten Days in Paris, Visit Croatia, Visit Porto, Visit Bordeaux, and Budapest Tourism Centre.
(All photographs are my own unless otherwise stated.)

Can’t wait to meet you 🙂
Wow, I just looked at your blog last week and I swear it said fiance, not husband? Congrats 🙂
Hey Kayleigh! Thanks- we got married in November!
Hey are you not blogging anymore? Love the parts about Malaysia. My boyfriend is Malaysian and we are talking about moving there at some point. I absolutly love the country (and of course the food!).
Hi Franziska! I’ve since moved to Belgium, but am going to start blogging full-force again. If you move to Malaysia and need any tips, feel free to contact me on my email!
I like your travel adventures… Keep travelling while blogging. Cheers!
Thank you, Jeric! I appreciate that. Can’t wait to get back to travel soon enough…
