Hotel Maison Armance ****
A refined and relaxed space perched above the rooftops of Paris, I visited a hotel that was as light and airy as being up in the clouds might feel. Maison Armance exudes exclusive boutique vibe and from the moment I walked in I was seduced by a serene sense of place.
On the polished side of the rive gauche where designer shops and cultural landmarks thrive, you’ll find newly opened (January 2019) Maison Armance. This 4* boutique hotel is tucked away from the street inside a light-filled courtyard, and once you’re inside it’s easy to forget you’re in Paris’s most pulsing neighborhoods. Fun fact: It was in this building that famous guests like Nina Simone and Serge Gainsbourg came to escape the city and find pleasure in privacy.
Disclaimer: my trip to Maison Armance was part of a collaboration for this blog; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The place

Esprit de France hotel group owns 10 hotels in Paris alone, with a total of 40 residences and hotels in and around France. They chose this specific location to continue the mission of restoring French classic buildings while offering a window into the French art de vivre experience to their guests.
The neighborhood is perfect for sinking into the pleasures of Paris; people spilling out into cafe terraces, copious amounts of designer showrooms, and the rich history of the city. With Place de la Concorde, Place Vendôme, and the Louvre in its backyard, it’s an understatement to say that Maison Armance is basking in the culture, fashion, In fact, it was here at 21 Rue Cambon where Coco Chanel opened her first hat store and later lived and grew her fashion empire. When renovating the building, it was important to Esprit de France to keep the spirit of class and elegance at its core while highlighting the heritage of the building itself.
Ascending up into the quiet and seclusion of the hotel itself, I quickly realized why the location is so perfect. This part of Paris is no stranger to heavy traffic and loads of tourists, yet when you come in through the courtyard and take the elevator up to the sixth-floor reception, the clamoring of the city stops.

The Design Concept
Double G’s interior design team worked with Maison Armance to bring the personality of a dreamy bohemian apartment to life. Their inspiration was Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Scandinavian design, and of course the romantic and elegant personality of Paris itself. Each object in the hotel is a piece of art fitting into the elegant and homey atmosphere. I adored that the design winks and nods to the Parisian skyline: storm greys, zinc, midnight blue, brick reds…The materials making up each room – velvet, tweed, brass, and other fine materials bring all the design ambitions together invoking an intimate art de vivre sensation. Did I mention velvet? 😍

The Rooms

I stepped into Superior Room 35 facing the calm street of Mont-Thabor. The glowing brass accents and the modern moulding were the first things to catch my eye. Natural light fills the room during the day enhancing these amazing creative touches with a nice glow, while at night the inventively designed light fixtures shine. Each design touch is thoughtfully placed and well done. I was especially struck by the high-quality materials used throughout the hotel (parquet, velvet, stone, and brass).
The bathroom is spacious and beautiful. Since I love playing music at all times (especially in the bathroom!) I loved the high-quality sound Bluetooth sound system which synced effortlessly to my iPhone.
In terms of bells and whistles, you have everything you need in the room like a Nespresso machine, a bottle of wine, fancy snacks, ample closet space with automatic LED lights, Bluetooth sound system in the bathroom, high-end toiletries and functionality ports in all the right spots.

The Verdict
Maison Armance is a special escape with just the right amount of comfort and class, set in a neighborhood synonymous with luxury and history. The dreamy design is tailor-made for travelers with a taste for a style that isn’t imposing, but instead elegant and inviting. If you want to taste the best of Parisian culture and come back to a place that feels more like home and less like a hotel than Maison Armance is your maison.
